Reception Gate House
HELP FOR HEROES
select for full details Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry who were moved to 'do their bit' after a visit to Selly Oak Hospital in 2007. The first task, suggested by General Sir Richard Dannatt (then Chief of the General Staff) was to fund a swimming pool at Headley Court (the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre near Epsom in Surrey).

Because of legal restrictions it wasn't possible to channel the money raised through existing Service charities for a capital building project so a new charity had to be established. Help for Heroes was launched on 1 October 2007.

The message: "it's not about the rights and wrongs of war, we just want to support those who serve our country and are injured in doing so," caught the public's imagination and became a focus for a huge 'demonstration by donation', as the public showed their support for the Armed Forces. Very quickly it became clear that the scale of the injuries being sustained in Iraq and Afghanistan needed a comprehensive and long term response, and the British public wanted to support us in this effort.

Hello room retired prison officer here for the first time
Mal - Wed Oct 24, 2012 2:06 pm
Hi I'm a new member, just found the forum. Have logged in and want to start a new topic but can't find any buttons that will allow me to make a post. Can anyone advise?
Mal - Wed Oct 24, 2012 2:16 pm
FAQ's tell me to post a new topic in a forum, click the relevant button on either the forum or topic screens. Unfortunately, the relevant button is not visable or maybe I simply have not found it.
Mal - Wed Oct 24, 2012 7:05 pm
Found the problem. I was trying to make the post in the Executive Area, NIPS forum. When I tried the General Area the post was allowed.

Hello everybody I am Kelly and hope to be using the site frequently to get some views and opinions from yourselves. I am currently studying at a university and am doing a dissertation which aims to either corroborate or dismiss Professor Zimbardo's findings in his Prison Experiment. I would be grateful for any information relating to conformity amongst prison officers and how the application and selection process may reinforce attitudes towards prisoners that could result in abuses of power. Responses will form aspects of my research so please contribute as much as you can.
