Re: Take home pay during 12 week training course

Completely depends on the starting salary on your contract. For a 37 hrs contract I took home 1850 after tax.

Re: anti corruption

Good idea.
Probably best if the person who originally posted it let their establishment know as well as can imagine they’ll be looking into where the story came from

Re: anti corruption

Anybody else see the article in the Star on Sunday about the £400 offered to an officer for a KFC.

Don’t forget to be careful what you post if journos are lurking.

Re: Criminal record

We just had an officer with a good few years service at my establishment lose his job for being done for drink drive so I would be amazed if someone was cleared for vetting having been done for that as recent as 2015. Granted you have nothing to lose in applying but I would be surprised if you did p...

Re: Poelt at huntercombe

Accommodation is sorted by your establishment so you will need to sort ask them to sort it for you. Although the area you will be staying in and around Henley on Thames does not offer a lot for the budget SSCL give. on week 10 of the first course at Huntercombe and its been a challenge due to facili...

Re: Declining conditional offer

SSCL will simply say you can reapply but there is no guarantee you will get your first choice and could be offered the prison you turned down again

Re: Workbooks

Your tutor will tell you which session relates to which workbook and then when each is due in. You won't be able to do some until later in the course when you have covered that particular session.

Re: Open prison

On POELT you learn all the categories, a new prisoner is very unlikely to go straight into a CAT D. CAT D prisoners are categorized on their escape risk, offence committed is not really taken into account.

CAT D prisoners are those that are trusted and unlikely to escape or those that are given ROTL

Re: Vetting blues

Its a choice you will have to make yourself, a guy on my POELT was removed as his CTC came back unsatisfactory. I would personally wait so you know there are no skeletons but others would go for it

Re: Vetting blues

So does a CTC just check myself and family back grounds for terrosim or do CTC involve terrosim check and all other checks I.E work references and the other checks or is all that done just in the pre employment vetting? Cant see why they would check everything twice? Two separate checks. CTC is com...

, not sure if i have to declare arrests?
Declare everything, if you don't it looks like you are hiding something. If they discover something you haven't declared you could fail vetting
