thought for the day
we must get away from this notion that criminals need to be punished. why should they be punished? :slno: this is an outmoded method of dealing with a person who committed a crime. they should be held in custody, preferably for a short a time as possible, so it doesn't cost too much and if when they are released, they then commit a further crime, well even then they still don't deserve punishment, instead they should be welcomed back into custody, preferably for an even shorter time than previously, so it costs even less than the first time. when released back onto the poor old UK public again, if they commit a further crime again, well - it's to be expected. the UK have a 'REVOLVING DOOR JUSTICE system,' it's not that good at actually providing justice for the UK public, but it is cheap and that's what counts :slsad:

Re: anybody still got a PS3?

I have one. Currently COD MW2 online multiplayer gaming. Internet, music storage, Blu Ray DVD. Started online gaming through the Wii (daughter's) on COD MW Reflex. HDMI cable is essential from PS3 to TV for the ultimate in detail. I thought online gaming was pretty sad and for people without too muc...

Re: How much more can Prison Officers take???

In the immortal words of Marti Pellow 'Privatisation is all around us and everywhere we go'. NHS is being privatised so don't think that if it was happening in the NHS the public will be marching in the streets - it is happening and me thinks I can get down the high street pretty OK right now. Socia...

Just been offered a job

I am seeking genuine advice - so obviously, I come here!!!!!! hundreds of months (feels like it) after applying I have been offered a place I joined this site 26 months ago. For more than a year I have not put much thought into it (it being the job or this site). Should I become an officer? What is ...

Re: Poll: New grade Prison Officer 1st Sept 2009 - Salary £14500

I cannot afford to start on the new proposed salary. I would struggle on the starting salary now but wanted to do it for the job, not the pay. However I cannot justify the change in lifestyle that a dramatic drop in income would have on my family. Their needs over my wants. The salary makes a mocker...

Re: Letter from Shared Services - does it mean anything?

I think nobody replied because nobody has a bloody clue what is going on. I was allocated May 08, references sought April 08. It s such a convoluted process with too many departments having a piece of the process that no one can ever tell you what stage you are up to because in reality there are no ...

Re: Allocated First Choice

20th September and I am done. If they extend it then superb. If they don't then I won't be reapplying - I've put on 15 stone, got COPD, Diabetes, a gammy right toe and lost three fingers on my left hand (that was last Christmas whilst carving the turkey up). They'll never notice unless I have to do ...
