Re: mobile phones in our schools

Having worked in schools I can say that all teachers are on a loser from the word go. A bit, sorry, a lot like HMPS in so much as you are guilty, until proven innocent, of any allegation brought by a pupil/inmate against you. When the tribunal eventually finds in your favour due to lack of witness ...

Re: Pensions and discrimination

Why are we whinging at retiring at 68? Lovely Mr Osborne raised the prospect of automatic rises in the pension age based on increasing life expectancy in his last budget. If he has his way we will all be retiring at 70+. Well, those of us still in our thirties will be anyways. Oh, Skipps you are lo...

Re: mobile phones in our schools

Switched off and in a bag works well. Kid using phone when not allowed - ask them to hand it in at reception and get it back at the end of the day. True, there is a risk with the cameras on phones but there are policies to deal with cyber bullying and these are usually used effectively. Assemblies a...

Re: 'Black Panther' Donald Neilson dies

Life means life in some cases.

I think that the general public should be made more aware of the terms of a life sentence; given that some sections of the media still equate a life term with 10 years or less.

Re: weapons and punishments

from what i've seen the majority of the problems in the service stem from poor management, people who can't make a decision and people who don't give a damn about staff, and i'm betting when management is culled we'll keep the numptys who are only concerned about the prisoners and KPI's and lose th...

Re: 1%. cap on pay rises..

I did not cause the banking crisis. Yet, I am being asked to contribute 3+% extra to my pension, retire later and receive less due to the impact of CPI as opposed to RPI. Furthermore, my pay is being limited to a 1% cap for two years after my two year pay freeze has finished. As one of those 'senior...

Re: axe national pay deals!

Average household income for my county was £18,000 last year. Any break up of national pay bargaining is going to have dramatic consequences for staff working in low wage areas. I have read O2s on this site from my area saying that their pay is "okay." I think many Prison Officer [closed] and staff ...
