Need to remember the prison is ours we just let them stay there. So none of this it's there house or own space. You can't go to a hotel and spark up?

I vaguely remember some movie where tons of missing people were returned to the planet including Glen Miller although he was slightly changed and now played reggae

In some YOI they do get gifts, socks or little stocking filler type things. Staff will usually get a longer dinner there will be a little fewer staff on over the whole day because bang up is usually earlier. You will tend to find its harder to bang up the more difficult cons near the end of your day over the festive period.

We're also doing something different again this year for food. Last year I did a tapas which was amazing. This year with be a 3 bird game pie (pheasant, partridge and duck - all shot locally and prepared by yours truly), roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and peas with a home made stuffing.

POELT Residential costs

Post by Slothjr » Thu Nov 16, 2017 4:59 pm

Hi all

Sorry for another thread as such, however most has been covered about expenses.

For the Residential course do the cost of the rooms come out of your wage?
Non Residential is self explanatory with the travel claims and everything else but the residential is a little confusing for me its not an issue paying for my room and food and whatever else.

I just need to make adequate arrangements for childcare, mortgage payments and you know life......... im sure others are in my postion any advice or the right direction to look will be highly appreciated :slbg:

P.S
27/10/17 applied
15/11/17 RAD passed (pilot RAD provisional at end of day)
15/11/17 provisional accepted
16/11/17 vetting paperwork sent off.....

They will cover all the cost of your residential accommodation and depending where you’re staying provide you with food or give you an allowance for food each day

Thanks will make things organising this easier!

anither quick one though,
I know its not ideal and beyond the point however after the lessons are done for the day and we are on our ‘free’ time are we allowed to leave the site or are we on some form of curfew? Or de we need permission?
Just curious now
Thanks again

I’m hoping on free time to be given it but to be back at a sensible time. I’d like to take in some cultural business whilst I’m on mine as I’ve never been to where I’m going for my POELT. I’d guess we’d be expected back by 2300hrs at the very latest - I was hoping to be more local but the sooner the better for me.

Welcome and best of luck :)

Hi!,

If your staying in a hotel off site the time is your own. If your staying somewhere like newbold then I'm not sure what the rules are for there.

For my training I am in a hotel off site and pretty much just left to it.

You will get the training venue and dates once you have passed vetting. I wouldnt get your hopes up of having your poelt at your establishment tho, not all jails do it.

They’ll offer you POELT course, if it’s not the one the want you can turn it down and hope there is a course near you, it may just mean waiting slightly longer.
