In some YOI they do get gifts, socks or little stocking filler type things. Staff will usually get a longer dinner there will be a little fewer staff on over the whole day because bang up is usually earlier. You will tend to find its harder to bang up the more difficult cons near the end of your day over the festive period.

We're also doing something different again this year for food. Last year I did a tapas which was amazing. This year with be a 3 bird game pie (pheasant, partridge and duck - all shot locally and prepared by yours truly), roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and peas with a home made stuffing.

As I stated earlier, I'm here to give out facts and information. I don't do nice and fluffy, I do no-nonsense. Take it or leave it. :slraz:

There's already a thread on here that you might find useful - it's called something like poelt - a few rules to adhere to. Just use the search function and it should come up.

I can see the reason behind most of those rules, but I think the £50 quid max is a bit harsh.

I like to use cash rather than cards, so I've always got more than £50 on me, although if you can leave your wallet in a secure locker that would be ok.

You could always get a fitness tracker that doesn't have wifi or Bluetooth, usually the cheaper fitness trackers can only be uploaded via a lead.

It's no problem leaving it in a secure locker with your other personal items, such as your phone.
It's because it looks a bit suspicious carrying more than that amount of cash in a prison. There's absolutely no need to carry in on your person. If you get searched and you have a couple of hundred on you, it may look like you're involved in something shady. Best off not to draw suspicion on anything about yourself if at all possible.
I know some of the rules sound ridiculous at times, but there are reasons for everything. They're there for your benefit, so abide by them and you can't go wrong.

Burtonboy the reason charlc25 asked the question about smart watches was that she has a fitbit provided by vitality life insurance, and it you constantly achieve your step count it actually qualifies you for a discount on your insurance ! But unfortunately the daily steps conducted whilst working the landings won't count as smart watches are on the prohibited items list

You can still upload the step count, you just have to physically connect it to a pc/ laptop rather than via Bluetooth or wifi.

The bottom of the range Garmins don't have wifi or Bluetooth, they come with a lead, but the connection on the watch isn't USB so it shouldn't fall foul of USB not being allowed either.

I just wanted to add to this post for any newcomers!!! Disclaimer*** please check with your establishment with what you can and can’t do or have on site!! As I have found out some pretty good information the past few weeks as I am in close contact with my establishment and I am doing regular visits before I start Poelt just to get my feet in the door and my face around the wings ... it seems the original young lady who was shouted at for saying such ludicrous things that smart watches may be allowed!! Was actually correct as per my establishment anyway!! As long as they have no internet or connection with the outside world and this was passed by head of security I am also allowed nails to a certain length and I can wear make up to a certain extent and my nose piercings are totally fine too .... so it seems I will be able to collect my steps and points and actually remain a human being at the same time hahhaahha

I was also told if u are cat a then the above is a no no however below that they may have things signed off and in place
