five years ago Benchmarking came in which said prisons could run with a lot less staff, VEDS was born and thousands of highly experienced prison officers were paid off handsomely to leave early.
This gave HMP the prisons with a lot less staff that they wanted and since then? Well since then we have RECORD NUMBERS of brand new prison officers with 0 experience whatever. Far better than the hugely experienced prison officers who were paid handsomely to leave.

Your contract should state that you get paid X amount. That will be your salary. It should be number 6 on your contract (pay and hours)

Are you going to be working for HMPPS or a Private company?

Sorry, I understand I have a salary but my question is whether we are paid by the hour or salaried.

Salaried would be you get X amount for a set number of hours regardless of overtime/holiday pay etc
Hourly is if your off a few hours that would be deducted in your pay.

You’re salaried to work so many hours, if you work more you get paid more or TOIL.

Your salary is your yearly base. Your monthly wage can go up dependant on extra hours.

You are contracted to 37/39 or 41 hours your salary is based on these hours so in that respect your are salaried, your basic take home pay will be the same each month, if you have time off you will owe that time back but your basic pay will stay the same. It does not include PP which is paid on an hourly basis.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

Salaried employment would be if you get paid one flat rate regardless of how many hours you work including overtime. I have checked with shared services and we are paid by the hour :)

Obviously not no, hence why I asked. I have checked with SS and we are indeed paid hourly. :)

You are not paid by the hour, you will receive the same amount each month if you work 148 hours or 160 hours (if you are on the 37 hr contract). If you go over your hours you will have a positive TOIL balance, if you go under you have a negative. Anything you agree to do as extra in your own time is PP which is paid at an hourly rate. If you don’t end up leaving work till an hour after your suppose to you will not be paid any extra.
