Uniform order

Post by Lthenewbie » Sat Aug 05, 2017 8:49 am

Hi all after getting the call , the next day my establishment sent me a uniform order request.

How much is too much to order as it doesn't specify max
Quantities
On the order form there is :
Shirts (short, long or mixed )
Tie I've opted for 2
Soft shell jacket
Long waterproof jacket
Boots or shoes il be opting for boots
Gloves
Woolley hat
And a baseball cap wonder if anybody actually wears these ??

Would requesting 5 shirts be too much ?
I'm guessing the jackets are probably fairly expensive so I'm inclined to order one of each ... but if that's damaged and I need a new one I could be walking round in rag order waiting for new to arrive as stores aren't always full

Also I have quite chunky thighs what is the fit like on the thigh ... would it be worth ordering the next size up ?

Sgtbush will be better at answering this one but he did put up a list of his uniform... along the lines of

14 shirts
5 trousers
2 gloves
2 jackets
4 epillets
4 boots... That's from what I remember.

Bare in mind with your shifts that when rota'd to work nights you'll want at least 7 clean shirts plus extras just in case

See I remember that but like you say I can't imagine being given that all in one go but I haven't joined yet so I could be mistaken

The order form from my establishment didn't ask me for quantities just sizes and there was no option for short sleeved just reg or long sleeved

The normal annual uniform order consists of:
  • 5 shirts, either short sleeved, long sleeved, or a mix of both
  • 2 pairs of trouser, poly cotton is less scratchy than the wool blend ones
  • 1 jumper OR fleece jacket.
  • 1 outer coat
  • 2 ties (males only)
  • 2 pairs epaulettes
  • 1 pair of boots OR shoes
If they offer you hats, scarves or gloves, then take them. You'll probably not get them ever again :slwoot:

YNWA, reg sleeves are short sleeves - most people order them, as they are far more practical than the long sleeved ones.

If they offer anything above n beyond ..... Take it.

See i was thinking short sleeve as would be more practical but in the event of an inmate trying to slash I'd rather have a small amount of material over my skin than nothing.

If an inmate try's to 'slash' you...a sleeve will do nothing other than soak up the blood pouring out of your arm and be cut off once you get medical attention anyways. I would not base your decision on its anti slash/stab abilities as it has the grand total of didily squat.

Has the prison service invented slash proof cotton shirts now?

Im going short sleeve to show off the guns.......... that will stop people wanting to slash me anyways. :sloo:

Anyways im struggling here with the form. As some of the items are half chest size, even the S and M sizes seem to be quite big? Anyone of normal size ordered theres and what are they true to size?

Finally there is no option for quantity, so do they just give you so much of each item?
