Concern for safety

Post by Tiger » Wed Sep 13, 2017 9:41 pm

I've told the prison I have a caution. Juvenile & adult. I also declared mental health. A few weeks ago I had a wobble and text my parents something stupid and they got worried and called the police and the police came out to check I wasn't going to hurt myself. It went down as a concern for safety. I didn't work for 5 years so I'm worried about pre employment checks. I've passed by rad by flying colours and been honest. Am I likely to get in???

All you can do is be totally honest. No one on this forum can tell you if you'll be successful or not. I'm afraid you'll just have to be upfront and hope for the best. Good luck :slbg:

You also need to be honest with yourself and decide whether you think you can do a job with a lot of pressure like this.

Agreed,

Good luck if it's what you want to do. How ever from what I've read and been told from friends whom are already officers this job isn't for the faint hearted in any respect. Hours, job till it's self and things you may encounter and come across.

Regarding vetting like above. It's about just being honest and waiting it out. If you don't have a criminal record and no mental health issues then I don't see it being a problem. If you do have either of the above then be brutally honest with vetting as if you don't they will find out.

Good luck and keep us updated ✌🏻

I have a caution and mental health issues. I have declared both. It's not stress I can't deal with it was just a stupid family argument which I said something stupid and ended up with a concern for safety. I've done shifts with police etc on ride alongside. I don't want to do anything else except prison service x

Fingers crossed for you. But being brutally honest if you had something put on your file regarding mental health and potential self harm only a few weeks ago you may not get news you want to hear. My methodology is prepare for the worst and then anything else is a bonus.

Hope everything works out

I didn't self harm & I never have done. I just said a stupid off the wall comment in a text to my dad and he believed it as I was in a temper & rang the police to get them to check. X

I'm happy to be assessed mentally, my doctor says I'm stable. I had come offf my meds and I was warned I may have mood swings for 8 weeks. This was in the 8 weeks when the situation happened. I'm fine now. Completely stable. If I explain this will they accept it do you think? I always tell the truth & I feel that helps x

Are you an officer? 😬

I'm just going to be so honest and explain in great detail the situations. Would back up notes from my GP support my vetting are you allowed to send them back with the vetting forms? Would shared services know the answer to my question?
