You don't always get your 1st choice, I've been allocated my 3rd choice. Regarding the starting pay, that quoted in your contract is for 37 hours. The advert will be for 39 hours so that's why the money is different. You will be able to opt to do 39 hours.
Applied 27/5/2017

Rad Results 27/6/2017

Passed Vetting 4/8/2017 :slyay:

I was in the same position i was offered one prison (A) and and when they gave me my start date they had changed it to the other one (B). It was only because i had physical correspondence that says i was offered (A) that i managed to get it sorted after 4 weeks of fighting.

Then on my induction week i found out they had confused me with another guy with the same starting initial and sent him to (A) when he was offered (B).

Unless you have a physical piece of correspondence saying you were offered an establishment you are assigned to where the business needs most as you apply for a cluster campaign and not a specific establishment when more than one is offered .

Regarding the salary you are on a 37 hr week for POELT which is why you are given a 37 hr week contract. You opt in to a 39 hour week contract after training. There is a paragraph on your contract that says this

I applied to about ten establishments, just to get a foot in the door and typically I got offered the furthest one away; but it is what it is. I've been live for 6 months now and I'm still winging it every day because the one week shadowing isn't worth a fook, you have to find your feet real quick like. Management expect you to be all over it from the word go! They keep increasing the workload, which is fine but there aren't enough hours in the day to to cover the basic aspects of the job. They expect you to do your personal officer entries, IR's, VR's, case notes, nickings, use of force paperwork, F213's F78's AFC's PR5900 testing bells, IEP's, downgrade paperwork, plus online learning stuff. How can I do all that when 90 percent of my time is taken up by dealing with needy prisoners who can't handle their bang up and there's over ten ACCTS on the wing with frequent obs!! My day starts with unlock; I get about three cells along my landing before it starts; guv,guv..guvguv...guv. Half my landing work, the other half are on meds. It takes ages to bang up the medicated massive. Then the endless cell bells start. It's a good job I like a challenge.

I get to meet some interesting people, and wrap them up lol. It's an eye opener alright!

You have 2 choices:

A accept the job as it was one of your choices or B don't accept and start the process all over again for the prison you want.

This seems to happen a lot, if you want to only work in one prison then why pick 2? Be patient and wait for the job you want rather than take something you don't want.

Most adverts are for clusters and not single prisons. I think they applied thinking they get to choose rather than just being allocated.

You have to be careful as if it is a cluster campaign (Which Belmarsh and Isis is) then withdrawing and reapplying can still see you being assigned the establishment you do not want.
