Certificate of good conduct

Post by Jessica889955 » Thu Nov 09, 2017 5:26 pm

Hi all! Finally back on the forum after a while, I apologise if this is in the wrong place on the forum!
I have received my conditional offer for my chosen establishment and have of course accepted. I've had to wait aaaages and pay out a fortune for my certificate of good conduct to come back from spain and then get it translated and certified into english. I've called SS a number of times to keep them in the loop and now finally my pre-employment checks are being started.
I now have a few questions..
From them giving you a start date and you actually starting, do they give you 4 weeks notice? As I'm slightly worried about my current job being a little unhappy to say the least if I give less than 4 weeks notice :sloo:
Also I'm guessing they won't start a POELT course just before christmas?
Does being a female officer attract more problems with inmates? As in, is it harder to gain their respect and be listened to?
Any help/advice would be appreciated :)

You give what notice your required to give as per your contract of employment.
If its a week, give a week, I its a month, give a month.
Ssclwill give you alternative start dates that work for you.

Thank you SgtBush! That makes me feel better, as I was worried I'd get a date and if I didn't take that date I wouldn't get another..

If your pre employment checks are just being started, I don't think you need to worry about getting a start date this side of Christmas.

They are filling up January courses at the moment so you may be lucky to have the checks finished by then at start in the new year.
Fam visit then POST - 21 June
RAD - 12 July
RAD result - 14 July
Conditional offer - 17 July
Vetting - 18 July
OH Assist - 28 Sept/9 Nov
Waiting the call - 11 Nov :slyay:
The Call 15 Nov - Start date TBC

I'm starting in the new year & my pre employment checks started early July, so I wouldn't worry just yet. Also when you pass vetting & you get 'the call' they ask about notice to give or holidays booked, they are very happy to work with you on dates :slbg:

Hi I'm in the South West, but anywhere around the 12-20 weeks is normal. Some do pass earlier, but don't count on it :slbg:
