five years ago Benchmarking came in which said prisons could run with a lot less staff, VEDS was born and thousands of highly experienced prison officers were paid off handsomely to leave early.
This gave HMP the prisons with a lot less staff that they wanted and since then? Well since then we have RECORD NUMBERS of brand new prison officers with 0 experience whatever. Far better than the hugely experienced prison officers who were paid handsomely to leave.

Missing forms

Post by Starsnstripes » Sun Nov 26, 2017 12:02 pm

Hi,

I have used the search function and there are a couple of similar subjects but not any with the answer I am looking for.

I am attending my RAD on Tuesday and have been asked to bring documents with me. There is the information on who the countersignature can be but I have no form for their details and it doesn't state what they need to write on the back of the photo, in fact it doesn't even state about a photo, it just says who can be your countersignature.

Also, in the part that says which documents to bring with you it says about a health questionnaire, absolutely no sign of this anywhere. The only attachments I have in the email are a uniform order form (again, do I complete this and take it to RAD?) a document checklist (which was a bugger to open) and guidance for pre employment form.

Lastly, RAD, what do you wear? Interview attire with gym wear in a bag, or just the gym wear all day?

Thanks

Hi

Not sure why you are being given info like that is the name and details of your counter sig are not needed until u do your pre employment check forms online for vetting. Signed photos are no longer needed the only photos u need are 2 for your establishment on your first day 1 for your id badge and one for your file and then 3 for college for the door card your c and r book and your training file

The health questionnaire is emailed to you after passing rad and again done online as for the uniform order unless things have changed u don't need to take it to RAD it will be requested by your establishment A couple of weeks before your start date

Thank you,

Will just take the id, proof of address and the pre assessment health questionnaire then :)

Now to desperately find some paperwork with my NI number on as haven't worked for 2 years (due to having a child)

What did you wear to show up to your rad?

There should be a health questionnaire to take to your Rad, to be given to the nurse before your fitness test, but we were given another copy while at our Rad if you hadn’t completed the one emailed to you.

When I attended my RAD in august I had to take the health questionnaire that you can download, fill out and print. Secondly I had to take proof of ID (Passport) proof of address (Drivers Licence + Utility bill not mobile)

You shouldn't have to have uniform forms etc.

That should be done at a later stage.

Quick tip for after you've completed the RAD, you'll get sent another health questionnaire to complete via email from a company called OHassist. Check your spam email folder. My OHassist health questionnaire was in there. Should receive it shortly after passing your RAD. I ended up with a letter from them a month later saying I hadn't completed it. So make sure you check :slbg:

Hope this helps.

You can wear what ever you like, they don’t care, I took gym clothes with me, others had track suits on with gym clothes already on underneath.

The fitness instructors are really good and will help you along in the bleep test. You're just not allowed to miss 3 consecutive marks (hit the line by the time the tape bleeps). Good this is that if you miss two and then get to the line on time, the counter is reset. So you'd have to miss another 3 consecutively to fail. :slnote:

Just control your breathing and remember to take a bottle of water, I forgot on my RAD but luckily they had a water fountain. Was near dead on my walk back from the fitness centre but it's all worth it. :slbx:

Remember this is your first impression on the prison service.... Turn up in a track suit if you want :slno: but my recruitment advisor said smart with a change of gym clothes.

:slag: I suppose it's all down to personal pride and how you want to present yourself.

At the end of the day though it makes no difference as they don't mark you down for your appearance just on your performance during the various tasks.

I wore a suit but after the initial nurses check got changed in to my gym kit and stayed in that for the rest of the morning.

Edit: if the RAD is at your prison or you are on your Familiarisation visit then I would definitely go minimum of smart casual.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

I was definitely planning on wearing interview clothes anyway so will stick to that!

I'm on an afternoon rad so means I got plenty of time to get ready etc.

I can't believe they have so many going on, It makes me wonder how many people will be there with me :sloo:
Doing mine at Newbold revel, Rugby.

Will definitely take plenty of water and some snacks too, hopefully I won't eat them all on the drive haha!

Will seriously try and push through with the bleep test, have heard most people can do it, I used to be really fit but gone are those days, I'll push myself through it and just hope I don't make myself sick, not to worried on the role plays as all you can do is be yourself.

Will give you all an update tomorrow :)

Thank you for the replies

I turned up to RAD smart and took fitness clothes with me. One of the staff commented that it was nice to see someone make an effort as some of the potential recruits turn up wearing alsorts.
So they do notice what you wear.
