Could you correct me if I'm wrong. I read above that travel time is chargeable at an hourly rate through expenses.
If I am travelling to an hotel Sunday 250 miles and travelling that far back on a Friday. Are those hours driving reclaimed?

Yes that's partly correct but it goes to your people hub to be added as TOIL and not through the expenses system

So you can claim time for traveling to training if you are staying for the week?? I take it that if you are traveling daily you can claim the time back? Roughly 90mins to Newbold for me so hopefully will be accommodated there.

As far as I'm aware crazyParsnip yes 😊 and you should be accommodated if it's a 90 minute journey. If your journey is over an hour going by the RAC site - you'll get accomodation. Mines 2.5 hrs away.

So, after trawling through the previously posted posts regarding expenses, am I right in thinking-
I'm doing residential, off site accommodation with no food. My residential is 1hr 30 mins away and 172 miles round trip (86 miles Monday, 86 miles Friday).
I will be claiming £25 per night and 26p per mile?
I'm not sure yet where 'm staying and if they will provide breakfast.

Thank you anyone that replies. :slbg:

Are you entitled to a hire car for the POELT I’d you already have a car? I’ll have to use the motorway to get there and my car isn’t really suited for using the motorway daily!

You will be if you doing over 100 a day and the think it’s 150 over 2 days 200 over 3 days but not 100% sure on the policy in full.

Only thing with hire car is it’s just to be used from
Home to poelt or hotel you can’t use it to drive round else where :)

Best thing to do is ask your establishment as each one will have different understanding of the policy

I know people who had hire cars traveling 50 miles a day so who knows
"I know what I must do. I don't know if I'm strong enough to do it. Will you help me?"

My hire car was booked today by my establishment, same with the other new starter

The 2 of us are doing training at 2 different locations

I'm 4.5 hours drive he is 25 minutes

Both got cars for full 10 weeks as we were told it now hmpps policy that they provide transport and the use of private cars was to stop

So are you saying they are putting a stop to hire cars soon? I will just ask when someone contacts me

Your hire car is booked by your establishment whilst on induction
HMPPS provide the transport because on course you are classed as detached duty

Do you know if this is the same across all establishments?

It must not be as my establishment said they don’t provide hire cars
