five years ago Benchmarking came in which said prisons could run with a lot less staff, VEDS was born and thousands of highly experienced prison officers were paid off handsomely to leave early.
This gave HMP the prisons with a lot less staff that they wanted and since then? Well since then we have RECORD NUMBERS of brand new prison officers with 0 experience whatever. Far better than the hugely experienced prison officers who were paid handsomely to leave.

familiarisation

Post by mpeng82 » Fri Sep 15, 2017 8:50 pm

Evening All,

Ive seen onbthe careers website and on here that once you submit your initial application and online test you are then invited to a firmilarisation visit prior to taking the RAD.

However although i have done the initial application and passed part RAD nobody has actually spoken to me about the firmilarisation.

Has the process changed or does this differ depending on the Prison applied for/area.

i am near Liverpool, applied for Hindley and took RAD in HMP Manchester.

Cheers

Matt

I start at my establishment on 2nd October. I haven't had a familiarisation visit but I'm having one on 26th September. So you may not be offered one until you have a start date.

I got offered the day and thought it was amazing and after it wanted the job more than anything.

I came before I did the RAD and I think that everyone should have it as I felt that this was a very important part of the start of the process.

Hi,

It actually differs between prisons because a visit is actually new into the recruitment process.

If you haven had one, when you pass vetting you will get an email from someone from your establishment.

Just email back and get them to book one in for you.

They will be happy to help

Some prisons run them every Saturday, may be worth phoning yours and asking about one for you. I was quite lucky as the military liaison arranged one for us at the prison I’m applying for so visited before I completed the POST.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.
