Anybody joining me on this one? 7 weeks seems so far away right now but I'm sure it will fly by. Also does anybody know what facilities we can use whilst there? I will be commuting to and from each day.
I'll be there with you haha

Not long now guys, just under 3 weeks until we start at our establishment, it's coming round slowly but surely. Had an email the other day inviting me to a familiarisation day on the 3rd November, has anyone else had this?
Looking forward to meeting you all and starting training :slbg:

Ive not had an email as yet. I think I may email them to see if I can arrange something. I presume I am at a different establishment to you both hence me not getting one.

I don't think all prisons offer them. Mine doesn't.

Got my email today with my payroll number etc. Getting excited now and a tad nervous!!

Our POELT mentor met us all on a familiarisation the other day and said to they guys starting before Christmas that L&D shut down from 22nd Dec to 8th Jan. The guys on courses have to go to their establishments on OSG duties for the Christmas period but have 25th 26th and 1st as holiday.

Try emailing the HR team at your establishment. Like you say you’ll need to know either way

I will go through my emails and try to get a point of contact. I will also see if they offer the option of a familiarisation visit as I have not been offered one as yet.

Yes. So many people get conflicting information. A clear answer would be great. I was told when arranging POELT that people would get 2 weeks off paid leave. I informed them I was going away on the 23rd to the 27th and they said it wouldn't be an issue as id be on holiday anyway. So hopefully when we all start we can get a clear answer so like you say we are able to plan things ! X

If it comes too it I'll just have to take those days as unpaid leave and just explain what I was told etc. They'll be a way too sort it !
