That’ll be why then. Missed out on that one. Still frustrating, would rather know one way or the other etc but I understand it varies so much from person to person.

Just bizarre that they want to speed up the process for new applicants but can’t seem to keep on top of the back log from people still waiting for the same prisons.

Hoping for some news soon!

HI slothjr

Congratulations on passing rad and getting conditional offer, luckily for you your process and scheme your on is really quick.. I’m into my 7th week of vetting and passed my rad back in August, you’re one of the lucky ones to be on the new rad scheme, just sit back and wait for vetting to complete now and priority recruitment will give you ‘the call’ when they have a start date for you.

The vetting isn't any quicker on the new RAD, the only part that is quicker is to the conditional offer. Vettingnwill still take as long as it takes.

Do you think they will be doing it in other parts of the country.

So as you all know i work in a cat a prison in the thames valley area, in our area we have 6 prisons from bedford to grendon to woodhill etc etc.

Our area the thames valley area is trialling a new rad process which aims to get people from app to conditional offer in 30 days along with getting rid of the role plays. I have now applied this way.

This is our new process:

By applying to HMP Thames Valley, you’ll be automatically entered into a Specialist Recruitment scheme that aims to make the assessment process faster and less bureaucratic.

The scheme aims to recruit candidates in a 30-day timeframe, from application to the issuing of a conditional contract. The process will consist of:

A written application – please complete this is seven days to help keep the process streamlined. It’s also really important you provide us with your preferences for which prison you’d like to work in.
An online test – once your application has been approved, you’ll be given access to 15 questions with multiple choice answers testing four key skills.
Recruitment Assessment Day (RAD) – if you pass the tests, you’ll be invited to an assessment day. This will consist of a computer based test, a group scenario test, fitness test (include health check and vetting. (Don’t worry, the tests are not too onerous and we don’t require you to be an athlete.) They will be held onsite in HMP Grendon / Springhill, Grendon Underwood, Aylesbury HP18 0TL and we’ll give you guidance on what to expect of the day in advance.

There are six prisons in our cluster, any of which you could work in as part of this campaign. However, where we can, we’ll take your preferences into account- so it’s important you provide these suing your application.

I’ve applied for the Thames Valley area prisons too. The two in North Oxfordshire specifically. My Rad process was speedy. The vetting however, not so much. Counting the days now ...

Me too. Conditional offer received 7th October and vetting sent off that day. I’m waiting. Enjoy the ride. Maybe I’ll see you in Bullingdon or Grendon one day 😂

It shows how fast vetting can be done! Would be great for them to roll that time frame across the country instead of leaving so many in limbo.

Hi, newbie here. Passed the RAD for the Thames Valley cluster except for the bleep test which I need to re-take. I was so disappointed that I actually couldn't be happy for the fact that I am almost there. I have to get faster to hit the line before the bleeps :D
I need to schedule the retake, do you know what is the procedure? Should I wait for them to contact me with the results or should I call the RAD centre? Thanks
