thought for the day
we must get away from this notion that criminals need to be punished. why should they be punished? :slno: this is an outmoded method of dealing with a person who committed a crime. they should be held in custody, preferably for a short a time as possible, so it doesn't cost too much and if when they are released, they then commit a further crime, well even then they still don't deserve punishment, instead they should be welcomed back into custody, preferably for an even shorter time than previously, so it costs even less than the first time. when released back onto the poor old UK public again, if they commit a further crime again, well - it's to be expected. the UK have a 'REVOLVING DOOR JUSTICE system,' it's not that good at actually providing justice for the UK public, but it is cheap and that's what counts :slsad:

Congrats Stobie,

I always thought the call came between 4-10 so recruitment must be doing overtime for the volume of new recruits, a friend has had the call today to..

Still waiting on mine, I passed vetting similar time to you though so I'm hoping it's this week.

Hi mate, I had the call this afternoon to start on 10th April, soon be here. I'm in the process of training for Ironman UK just after my training will finish, I see there is access to a gym but may have to find a pool and take my bike for evening rides. Excited about the experience of the training but like something new a little nervous.

I've done a bit of research on this because I can't go without a gym Mon-Fri. Apparently there is a small gym at Newbold but the facilities are limited and there is no pool. I am just going off old posts on here though.
Still waiting for my vetting to go through so haven't had the call yet but hopefully soon!
I've found the nearest gyms using Google as well but it doesn't look like there are any in newbold at all, there's two locally that aren't too far away though if you end up needing to join one with a pool.
I've found all this out and I won't even go to newbold knowing my luck.
Hope this helps, wish I could be if more assistance.
Good luck with your poelts mate, hope all goes well!

CROG nice one will see you there bud,

By the sounds of it you're in a better physical state than I lol.

And Pingu (love the name) hope your vetting comes through quick, where in the uk are you (just say north west or south east don't disclose city ect) as they tend to get you into the closest POELT as possible if it's available.

When I did my RAD there the fitness test was held in a chapel so.. don't know about the gym situation.

Hello!

I, like a couple of you guys got the call yesterday!
Whoop!

Due to start on the 10th of April, and attend the POELT at Newbold on the 17th. I will be traveling down from the North West (probably) via the train on the Sunday as trains to Rugby won't get me in in time for a 10:00am start? I did read that they can put people up for an extra night (Sunday) if they live over 100+ miles away - can anyone confirm this??

Anyhow... looking forward to it hope to see and meet a few more of you there

James

Hello bud,

Congratulations, will be seeing you there, best bet would be to call shared services and find out mate as you know it is the first day of the course, found alot from the north west been coming down to Newbold, I was born in the north west but reside in the south east now so not too far for me.
