thought for the day
we must get away from this notion that criminals need to be punished. why should they be punished? :slno: this is an outmoded method of dealing with a person who committed a crime. they should be held in custody, preferably for a short a time as possible, so it doesn't cost too much and if when they are released, they then commit a further crime, well even then they still don't deserve punishment, instead they should be welcomed back into custody, preferably for an even shorter time than previously, so it costs even less than the first time. when released back onto the poor old UK public again, if they commit a further crime again, well - it's to be expected. the UK have a 'REVOLVING DOOR JUSTICE system,' it's not that good at actually providing justice for the UK public, but it is cheap and that's what counts :slsad:

I've been told I'll be starting my induction week on the 10th at Nottingham, then at Newbold on the 17th travelling from North East. Bricking it about the exams, only received my start date like last week. And my contract today.
Have hardly received any information about where I'll be staying or what's involved etc

Unfortunately had a call yesterday, and have been told that I'll no longer be attending Newbold, but instead stanford hill? Right at the bottom of the country. Is that the same then like Newbold? Do you get accommodation and food all sorted? Can't seem to find that information out from anyone.
Absolutely gutted because Newbold is 3hrs away for me and stanford hill is 5 hrs trek.

Chances my checks and vetting will come back clear in time to get on the POELT this month are zero even if any places are available. But has a start date been set for after the April one yet?.

See you there. I'll be on week six when you start your training (I started at Newbold on the 13/03/17). Shout if you've got any questions.

Good luck to everyone starting at Newbold today. Enjoy today before the powerpoints start. One of the best bits of advice I can give you is to talk to those who are at Newbold but are just starting week six, they will help you as much as they can.

Hope you enjoyed the first week. It's very "death by powerpoint" for the first few weeks but once you're through the midterm it picks up a bit practical-wise! I'm one of the Week 6's at Newbold currently and as TheCat said, speak to us Week 6's! Most of us are more than happy to chat :slbg:

I was also in St Pauls for the first 5 weeks, so I feel your pain :slgy: You might be lucky and get a upgrade to Maples if you're good ;)
