Pnc/dbs

Post by Xoxox » Sat Aug 12, 2017 1:04 am

I already know there have been many threads about this but can't seem to get a straight answer from any of them... if I have an enhanced dbs is that the same as pnc as it states pnc is stage 4 on my dbs?

I got into an altercation when I was 11 with another kid the same age and the police came to my parents house and as far as I am aware I just got a telling off, I didn't have to go to a police station or anything like that, when I asked at my local police station they said this wouldn't show up on anything... does anyone know if this is correct, my dbs checks for work have always shown nothing up x

I never went to the police station but I'm sure I remember signing something so now starting to worry whether it was a youth reprimand or similar, I was only in year 7... I'm guessing it's best to put it down just in case it does show up because apparently literally ever last thing shows up regardless of whether it went anywhere or not

Oh definitely declare it hon but it'll honestly be nowt to worry about. It most likely won't show up due to your age at the time and the nature of the altercation obviously wasn't anything serious but declaring shows integrity regardless so you'll be fine, don't worry about it ๐Ÿ˜Š a youth reprimand is just a formal warning/slap on the wrists/"don't do it again or this will happen" there's the tiniest chance ever that it'll show but like I said - declare and whether it shows or not - you've shown integrity ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whilst we are on the subject , does anyone know if you can receive a caution or reprimand without attending police station? He literally came to my house and told me off, it was about 13 years ago and I was in year 7 of high school, just don't even know what I would put on forms to declare it because don't want to make a big deal out of the local Bobby coming and shouting to scare me or underplaying it when actually I got a caution if that makes sense

You can apply for a copy of your PNC like I did. It's on AcroPolice. Google it. There most likely will be a foot print but they wouldn't hold it against you .

You only need to declare cautions, bind overs, official reprimands or convictions. You definitely do not need to tell them a copper told you off when you was a minor. I had some incidents as a minor which I didn't declare because they aren't relevant and I passed vetting. They want a declaration of relevant incidents and an unofficial telling off isn't relevant.

Another one to declare is penalty notices since they remain on police records. I accepted one a few years ago which I probably shouldn't have got when I was told that it "would not appear on any records and wouldn't affect job applications", only to find later that yes, yes it does need to be declared for vetting, and has resulted in me being ineligible for police jobs I've wanted to apply to!

Didn't cause any issues for any of my vetting etc though.

Penalty notices like speeding and parking etc tree_surgeon? I did have those and declared them, didn't know if it would affect anything but put it on there anyway lol!

Fixed penalty notices for speeding, yes. Someone may correct me but I don't believe parking penalty notices need to be declared.
Mine was for having a wee on the street, and is actually theoretically "indecent behaviour" which sounds horrendous out of context!
As always, honesty is the best policy; especially with these low-level offences it's highly unlikely they will be seen as an issue, but if you look like you're trying to hide them then your integrity will be called into question.

No, parking ones don't need to be but they were the only other 'penalty' type things I could think of. Mind the 'in school term time holiday penalties" might come up now, they're a legal thing apparently.. . That's worth finding out.
Haha I drove past some guy peeing in a bush on the motorway yesterday, if ya gotta go ya gotta go I suppose!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ bloody hell - indecent behaviour - that's a bit of a strong term!! Bless you ๐Ÿ™ˆ
Totally agree on the honesty and integrity ๐Ÿ˜‰

I only heard of the "indecency" penalty notice when I got it. It was in NI, so maybe they only do it over there.
Didn't think of school holiday penalties, may be worth people looking into!
Tell me about it, I hadn't even started my wee when they stopped me and had to walk 2 miles home with a full bladder, convinced that they were going to follow me to catch me trying again!

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ sorry you're wording that so funny! 'hadnt even started my wee' ๐Ÿ˜‚ bless you, it sounds like you were just damned unlucky!!
Ohhh bless you!! 2 miles! Well done on that!! I'd have been a bit paranoid too! I'll bet that was the most relieving experience of your life when you finally got home!!!!
Indecency - I'd class that more as just standing peeing into the road in full view or something!
