Bath Race Course RAD?

Post by Ross1708 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 8:02 am

Hi Guys, new member!

I recently applied for a post and completed the online tests, was offered to attended a RAD right away and the closest to me is Bath Race Course.
I would rather get it done sooner than later so going to arrange it for within the next week i expect. Have any of you attended the Bath RAD, if so can you can you share your experiences please? What role plays did you have to do? how soon were you informed if you passed or not?

Thanks in advance, any help appreciated!

Ross

I went to Bath Race Course for my RAD.

The instructors were very friendly, telling everyone to take their ties off and undo the top button of your shirt if that makes you relaxed and comfortable. They say you're there to show 'you' so they can assess your skills, so no need to go suited and booted. Just some smart casual clobber that you will feel relaxed in is perfectly ok.

I actually booked my RAD 8pm the night before I had to attend as the other options were very far away. I was so rushed and focused on making sure I had everything in order I forgot my trainers for the physical! I wasn't worried about that aspect as I enjoy that sort of thing, so I double-checked papers and grabbed everything other than my trainers on my way out the door. The instructor borrowed me his trainers to complete the RAD in. So you know they aren't out to turn you away at the first opportunity.

Scenarios, well the one thing I took from that was that the actors were pretty impressive. The instructor will give you handouts and explain what the room layout is and what is expected of you. You'll get some time to review a general overview of prison rules and the three scenario situations. When you start you won't have much time to worry or overthink anything, and before you know it you're walking out the third and last scenario room.

The other exams are just what you did online, but easier in my opinion.

Take a few bananas and a drink up with you in your kit bag, as you won't have much time to eat or whatever, and our day was quite long.

Fantastic staff - I was the only one there today so flew through!

The role plays were an experience confident to an extent hit the 7 points I believe but who knows!

Anyway you will have a great time, I really enjoyed the rad!

Any specific questions I will be more than happy to help.

I did my RAD at bath racecourse! I really enjoyed it.

The role plays were my hardest part. Spent the drive back to Devon worrying about how I did.

I did my RAD on the Sunday before the august bank holiday, got my results on Wednesday and got offered a conditional job on the Thursday! It all moved really fast!

The staff are really nice. I was there on my own so they all chatted to me and we had a bit of a laugh! They'll explain everything to you! Just remember your paperwork and your gym kit!

Hi Ross,

Yeah relatively good they were:
Non verbal comms = 87A
Suspending Judgement = 80B+
Showing understanding = 87A
Exploring and clarifying = 87A
Acting with integrity = 93A
Respecting others = 100A+

Received pass results the day after which was the Thursday.
Got a conditional offer on the Monday 9th, started vetting that same day.
So currently 5 days in to vetting.
I’m going for Guys Marsh.

Enjoy it!!

Honestly just relax, the staff are really great - I suppose the big worry for a lot of people is the role plays; but they’re actually quite enjoyable.

And providing your happy with maths and English and you can pass the bleep test you will have no problems.

Do you have any specific questions about the day?

How are the roleplays laid out I've seen on here some places do 5 roleplays for 10 minutes or some said 3 for 10 minutes?

Thanks

At bath I did 3.

All lasting up to 10 minutes - you can either leave by yourself when you think you have resolved the issue or you will be taken out if you go over 10 minutes.

There is as I’m aware technically no requirement to solve the issue, just to make sure you hit the 7 qualities.
