When to hand in notice

Post by Elkins17 » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:45 am

So as the subject says when should I hand in my notice at current work place?

I know there can be a gap between RAD-Vetting-POELT so jut want to know when everyone else handed theirs in?

Thank you! :slnuts:

When you get a start date for Poelt is when I’d hand mine in, until then you don’t have a firm job offer.

But don’t they contact your current employers for a reference before POELT? 🤔.

Very likely, there has been rumour that work history has recently been checked using the tax office records.

As stated until an official offer and POELT date has been given then you haven't got the job.

I didn’t think they could do that! I’ve been at my current position for 5 years so hopefully that’s enough as my previous position went and closed down! 😁.

As I said only rumour from reading posts on here, I would assume only whether you have actually worked at a company can be checked opposed to any conduct/performance type of checks.

Wait till you have a contract. I applied in June, they contacted my boss in early July. And I'm still waiting, been with my company 7 years, thankfully have a very supportive manager :slbg:

I handed in my notice once I had written confirmation of my start date and contract signed and sent back.

My employer was contacted for a reference a few months before during vetting.

My reference wasn't contacted but my countersignatory and headquarters were, some people on here have had the check done dokey through HMRC bit depends if you are on the pilot scheme or not.

Don't hand your notice in until you have your written contract and it's been signed and sent back.

I handed mine in the day I received my contract through the post. I wouldn't hand your notice in until this point as this is the only time you can be sure you have a job. Until this point things could still fail.
