Yeah I called mine and she asked why I was calling as she doesn’t have anything to do with us until we actually get to the jail. I tried explaining to her that SS told me to contact her and she wasn’t best impressed :slbg:
I was told to call by ss too, after several calls my prison said there wasn't a vcp there & that they have nothing to do with recruitment until we are there
I rang the prison numerous times too ask for the VCP to be told one wasn’t there. You’ve gotta ask for “People Hub” and you’ll get through to them :slbli: the lady I spoke to like I said wasn’t best impressed but when I explained to her my issue she took all my details off me including RAD date, Date of conditional offer etc and said she’d contact SS to try resolve my issue. Whether it’ll happen is another thing. It’s annoying and a backwards system with numerous flaws. SS can never tell you anything and your VCP doesn’t know who you are!

Hi all!
It's been 15 weeks since my vetting started....is this how long it should take?? I've contacted SS twice now and they've just relied stating vetting is ongoing....it just seems to be taking forever. I'm a serving special constable and vetting for that didn't take this long im sure...??
From application to start date of POELT the entire process has taken me approximately 10 months to get to this point. I start POELT on 30th Oct at Leyhill.

I genuinely seem to have had one of the longest waits to get here. At one point the vetting team asked me if I wanted to withdraw my application due to the wait being so long

Well after my email the other day asking if I had recieved the OH assist form I phoned them up this morning to see if they had recieved my questionnaire back as I was in the middle of the Caribbean on a ship when I replied.

It appears that they have recieved it back and that there is a backlog of forms awaiting scrutinisation by the nurses so is taking a little longer than normal.

They will look at the return and either arrange an face to face or phone interview if needed or they will close the case and upload the form as closed for sscl ready for the a decision.

Another waiting game for another company outside the control of SSCL.

Hi guys,
I received my conditional offer for a CAT A prison in Worcester 4 weeks ago now and I’ve been in contact with shared services in the day and after 4pm and none of them can give me an update on vetting, also no reference requests has been sent out to been sent out either not even my countersignatory reference.. a little frustrating as it’s taken me 8 months from application to conditional offer as they lost my paperwork starting off🤔.. no communication what so ever.. anyone else experiencing issues?.

Hi, 4 weeks is very early days. Yes some pass at this stage of vetting, but many many others are in vetting for up to 18 weeks. SS will not tell you anything at all and some are in week 12 + & refs etc not been contacted. If you read through this thread you'll find so many people in the same situation. So I'd relax and just wait patiently, it could be many weeks before you hear. :slbg:

I was exactly the same. I'll give it another week or I'll wait till the end of the month. I had a status change at 18 weeks but that morning had said I'll give it till 20 weeks.
Good for you!!
There does reach a point when it's worth emailing or ringing to ask if there's anything you can chase up on your end (even though you know everything has been sent back), it lets them know that you're concerned but also it could actually raise something that hasn't been successfully received, by them.
Now, I don't know what that point is, that's up to you. Just bearing in mind that there's been a few candidates recently not passing, due to problems with documentations or reference issues.
As always Karen, good luck!

Ah thank you :slcu: I did call about 3 weeks ago and explained that it was getting 'complicated ' in work, my manager is great, but I do Training sessions & they want to book my dates/venues for next yr & I feel awkward about the whole thing, not knowing if I'll be there. The lady I spoke to was really nice, she checked my file & said all was in order with nothing outstanding, she advised me to call my (hopefully future establishment) and ask for the vetting contact point, after several calls & different departments I gave up. Knowing your journey gives me hope that I'll get there eventually :slbg: thanks again & good luck with Poelt

Thanks. I vaguely remember you suggesting a t-shirt stating something along the lines of 'no, not heard anything yet'. Think of the money you've lost out on. It's gonna happen, keep faith!

I have lost out on a fair few quid that's for Sure! :slhehe: I'm sure it'll be my turn soon enough, it's just the complete lack of info. I'm so pleased they've started to make improvements to Steria, though sadly mine is still on the old format. Fingers, toes & even eyes crossed for next Week! :slbg:

Its strange how they have decided to add people to the new version of steria as me and Karen are only a week apart yet I have the new version and she doesn't.

I think sometimes it depends on the prison applied for or the area you live. I'm in contact with a few in vetting in my area & no one has the new Steria, some have been in Vetting for 12+ weeks, others just a few weeks. :slbg:
