Re: Vetting times

Post by Noggy70 » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:32 pm

My vetting started June 24th...... I have heard nothing... All my references and counter signature have been contacted and returned... SS can't/won't give any info... Was even told by e mail to contact the establishment I got offer for... So I did they told that they wouldn't know anything as they only find out about us when they get told what our start dates is.... It is a ball ache as I am still working in job I can't stand doing but bills still need paying... Chin up all those still waiting......

If we all think positively maybe we can move the mountain....

Hi I was also told to contact the prison I'm hoping to eventually be working in. I called & requested to speak to 'vetting contact point' as advised, was told there is no one of such position, to try this & call next day, I did this 4 times, as each time told ' never heard of that, try this & call tomorrow ' . Moral of this Post? Calling you're prison won't always be beneficial :slhehe:

CTC for you is part of your normal vetting so your vetting is still going on for you.

Vetting takes as long as it takes, no 2 cases are the same and no process it would appear is the same either even though they are checking the same process for everyone minus the CTC checks for Cat A.

No one knows why there isn't a set procedure other than SSCL and they aren't particularly helpful in most cases, so other than sit and wait or ask the same questions in a different format on numerous threads, there is nothing that we can do to hurry it along.

So if CTC is part of the normal vetting why has my steria changed : Your application is currently going through checks with either higher level checks and/or Health outstanding.
I thought maybe they were now doing CTC... im Not bothered how long it takes, i have waited 8 months for vetting clearance before for the police service.

Vetting times are a mystery for all lol

I presume you can read but are finding it difficult to process the information other wise you wouldn't keep asking this is different guises....

Baseline checks are complete hence the change to your new status, higher checks, these can be either DBS or CTC or indeed both are outstanding and health if not already submitted.

I presume the recent change in statuses are in response to the countless number of calls SSCL recieve on a daily basis asking what stage peoples vetting are at, this way it lets them know that the baseline checks are complete and that the higher level checks are on going.

This does not imply that your vetting is complete in anyway other than that they have finished the baseline checks.

For you as an applicant to a Cat A prison; the CTC is part of your normal vetting process just that it is a higher level check than your pre employment and right to work checks.

Hopefully you understand that a little clearer now?

Yeah thats great help, thanks very much.

I am hoping as i already submitted a dbc certificate and gave them the certificate reference number hoping they can get access rather than waiting for a new 1, although im sure they will do a new 1 anyway. That was a full enhanced adult and children dbs.

Anyway thanks for the information very helpful :D

What's other people's wait on there CTC? Mine has said waiting for sponsor for 3 weeks now? But I've been told there waiting for CTC to be complete then they can Pass to decisions team... Does this mean it's 100% not been started because it don't say in progress?

Just seems a long time for them not to start it...

There are several threads on here that relate to vetting & with a quick search you'll find you answer. The longest I've read about is 20 weeks, though that is just on this forum, there could be people off the forum waiting longer.

Hey,

I don't have an exact answer. However I spoke to SS numerous times who advised it was 12 weeks. However, the last time I spoke with them when I reached the 12 week mark I was advised "it takes a long as it takes". I don't there is a specific end date. I would advise to plan for it to take 6 months and anything before that is a bonus .

I know 2 cases aren’t the same, but just wondering if anyone applied for a North West establishment and if so, how long did their vetting take?

I am currently 3 weeks in to vetting (and could potentially have a lot longer to go :( ) and have noticed there are POELT taking place in January and they are only 30 mins from my home! Would really like to be train there rather that have to go away for 10 weeks!
