five years ago Benchmarking came in which said prisons could run with a lot less staff, VEDS was born and thousands of highly experienced prison officers were paid off handsomely to leave early.
This gave HMP the prisons with a lot less staff that they wanted and since then? Well since then we have RECORD NUMBERS of brand new prison officers with 0 experience whatever. Far better than the hugely experienced prison officers who were paid handsomely to leave.

I'm not too sure you will get much details on that, as this will be the first POELT held at Huntercombe.
Hope you do find out, but assuming no one will really know as they haven't held it before.

Good luck, when does your training start there? As I am hoping to also do my POELT there?

Thought those were the dates.
Been a few hicups with vetting, but hope I get onto that start date too.

I have been in close contact with the establishment, and definitely the first one at the establishment, so could be nice to be part of an inaugural team regarding POELT at the establishment.

Good luck with it, hopefully I might join you there, but I won't be on accommodation as I live 13 miles away

No idea where the accommodation will be yet, checked google and doesn't appear to be a hotel or b&b nearby

In theory your POELT mentor is supposed to help sort this during induction week. But if not I gather you get set an "expenses account" where you can book your own accommodation prior to POELT using an expenses account that your POELT mentor should 100% help you set up prior to POELT course. Not sure if I can name the account by name etc, except from experience in my area at least (north west) they allow up to £70-£75 per night accommodation expenses if you cant be accommodated on site!.

Cheers, sounds confusing. I'd have thought everyone on the same course would be put up together

Hi guys hope your course went well at huntercombe.

I am due to start POELT at huntercombe on 27th November but not had any information on accommodation. I have called recruitment to be passed onto a number to ring during the hours of 1600 and 2200 at night but get nothing but answer phone.

Had anybody got any information for this please or at least a contact number at huntercombe I could call?

This wouldn't be an issue but I am travelling 4hours to get there so need to be down on the Sunday night really.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you TangoVictor, I need to be proactive with this as I may not be able to commit to the start times, with it being so far away - may have to rebook for a nearer location with a later start date. I've heard start times from 7:55am and 10am. If 10am that's cool.
