It's on the vetting blues thread. Think someone called snoodles is going through the process at the moment and sure they would be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck

If you go into a thread called 'Channings Wood ' on page 10 I think, is the address to write to, request a letter asking reason for failing, then ask about appealing. Good luck :slcu:

Thanks everyone sorry for the slow response, I previously worked in the prison as a nurse but had to leave due to being bullled by one of the managers whilst I had depression, who has wrote me a bad reference without even being asked before but I’m not sure if that would be the reason

They cannot and do not write 'bad references' only factual ones.
Your interpretation of being bullied could be taken as ' person continually pulled up for inadequacies on workload"
Would you employ this person again....
Answer ... No

Depression could also be a factor, is it being managed under your GP?
HMPPS have a duty of care and its not going to throw someone who suffers from unmanaged depression into a hugely stressfull environment and then leaving them wide open to a tribunal or court case

Agree with the Sgt here. They can’t write a bad reference. Only state facts or perhaps a minimal reference would speak louder than words ...

“Joe Bloggs turned up for work every day.”

And thats it.

According to my last job my boss told me he had wrote an awful reference, thankfully I had a friend at the work place who helped me.

Yeah my depression is well controlled coming of the medication now, having previously worked in prison I understand how stressful they are

Fantastic news. Have had a response from vetting and they didn't get one of my references so I have contacted the company today and asked them to send it to me so I can forward it on. Fingers crossed they will overturn the decision

How long did it take you to receive a response? And how did they respond

Possible breech of DPA act
Almost probable breech of confidentiality.
And speculative interpretation of "awful"

Hi all,

After 18weeks on the vetting train I received and email last night saying I had failed due to unsatisfactory pre-employment checks.
I know my current employer and character reference had given me great feedback etc and been really honest.
However I'm still unsure as to why I have failed. my previous employment was fantastic, my referee and I got on really well. the company was great to me and in return i performed well within the company i have no reason to believe a bad reference wouldve even crossed there mind.

the only thing I can think of is they didn't receive my previous employers reference as I had no confirmation from themselves they'd sent it off.

Is there anyway at all this decision can be overturned?
What could the reason for this be?
If it is due to not receiving a reference, could I get it and send it off.

This is such a heartache and hard thing to be told especially when it's something regarding pre-employmrnt. :slscr: :slscr: :slscr: :slscr: :slscr:
