Shift phone apps

Post by Jolly green » Sat Oct 14, 2017 1:28 pm

Hi gang

If your like letting you partner know your shifts on a particular date mite get a little confusing and frustrating working out the week your on etc etc ie she asked me what line I’m on in May next year errrrrrr give me a mintue but I’ve found two mobile phone apps that has really helped one called MyShiftWork with allows you to presets your shifts and add them easily to the calendar and then it sync to your phone calendar and if you have an iPhone you can sync it to your partner iPhone and the other called Weeknumbers allows you to set a number on your first week Sunday then adds the following sequence of numbers to you Callender To correspond with your working.

You can sink calendars on iPhone without these apps, we use them for our squadron hierarchy so we know what each other are doing on a daily basis.

I carry a POA diary plus we get a laminated small card with our shift pattern on and a key, but it’s not much use to my wife as she works shifts too and she needs to be able to cross references on the point for child care, our phones are linked so whatever I put in mine pops up on hers.

Just go on to my detail. Select the dates you want. Save as a pdf. Email to your home address. Automatically saves to your iBooks!
Easy

I’m fully aware how to just not practical .... My point to this thread was so you don’t have to carry a piece of paper around with you, so your partner has to hand your duties for when they sort out their own duties/shifts they can just go to their calendar on their phone and see when your working and at what time.

Errrrm... iBooks is an app on iPhone/iPad that stores PDFs etc and you don’t need to print them out. No point downloading extra unnecessary apps :slwin:

Still think your missing the point with IBook it’s still an app which you need to open and if your partner input their shift in to a calendar on their phone it would mean opening two apps at the same time flicking between them to make sure the shifts don’t clash where as the app I’ve suggested means you only open it, add your shifts on the app which is automatically add to your phone calendar as well as your partner phone. So when they add their shift on their phone they can see straight away what you are working and can adjust their shifts accordingly. Work smarter not harder.

It’s a suggestion try it! You can delete the app if it’s not for you. I personally found it made life a lot easier.

I have got a wonderful device that both me and my wife use so that we know each others shifts.
Also we use it to plan things when we are together and make notes of holidays - days out, school holidays etc and its been around for years apparently.

We use a pen and a calendar that's hanging on the fridge !! :slhehe: :slhehe: :slhehe: :slyay: :slyay: :slyay: :slhehe: :slhehe: :slhehe:
